Bodhisattwa Padmapani is a form of Avalokiteswar popular in the Valley. Padmapani is generally seen standing at the right side of Amitabh Buddha in Sukhavati, and is depicted most often in white but sometimes in red. He holds a lotus in his left hand, while his right is held in the Varadamudra of charity. Padmapani wears an antelope skin over his left shoulder, and is resplendent in the ornaments typical of a Bodhisattva, signifying the enlightened experience. Under his crown, his air is in a topknot. Each tied hair strand depicts the enlightened ones, while the free hairs are symbolic of Padmapani's endless quest to achieve enlightenment for many eons to come.
